Amsterdam Schiphol Airport Shopping

Amsterdam Schiphol airport offers a fantastic shopping experience. There are a vast number of shops offering cosmetics, alcohol, clothing, electricals, chocolate, toys and traditional Dutch food amongst many other things.

One of the things that makes shopping so special at Schiphol is that many of their shops are before Passport Control, and therefore open to the general public as well as passengers. Shops before Passport Control are found in Schiphol Plaza and are open between 0700 - 2200 Schiphol airport shops after Passport Control became collectively known as the world-famous "SeeBuyFly" brand. Duty-free shopping has not existed within the European Union since 1999, with many airports now charging two different prices to customers flying within and outside of the EU.

Amsterdam Schiphol is one of the few that charges the same price to all passengers, to all destinations. SeeBuyFly shops are open daily, one hour before the first flight departs and 30 minutes before the final flight departs. In addition, Schiphol airport applies many special offers to goods in its stores. These are on average 10% lower than in other major European cities, but can be as low as 35%. All special offers are available to view both in the airport and online.

If you find these special offers to good to resist, but don't want to cart your purchases around Amsterdam, you can take advantage of the pick up service available. Your purchases will be stored safely, securely and free of charge for you to collect upon your return. Don't worry if you fly when the shops are closed: pick up is available 24 hours a day. Don't forget, though, that if you are there to fly and not to shop: some of the departure gates are up
to a 10 minute walk from the shops. Be sure to allow plenty of time to get to your gate.

Please note: all purchased liquids, whether perfumes or alcohol, will be sealed upon purchase. You are not permitted to open them until you reach your final destination. The receipt of your purchases will be added to your boarding pass.
